Orthopaedic Surgery Associates of Marquette has a new name to go along with its new location of the last few years.

The practice now is called Advanced Center for Orthopedics. The name change followed an expansion in 2008, when the practice moved to a new suite of offices at the Upper Peninsula Medical Center.

Dale Moilanen, chief operating officer for Advanced Center for Orthopedics, says the new name is a more accurate reflection of the services they provide.

“As a continuous effort to provide the best orthopedic care within the Upper Peninsula, we felt it was necessary to change the practice name to one that better reflects our commitment to excellent orthopedic care and the residents we serve,” says Moilanen.

The practice, founded in 1966, now has nine orthopedic specialists with advanced training in the shoulder and arm, hand and wrist, hip and knee, foot and ankle as well as sports medicine, joint replacement and revision, trauma and plastics and reconstruction.

Advanced Center for Orthopedics serves as the team physicians for athletes at Northern Michigan University, the United States Olympic Education Center, Marquette Senior High School and Gwinn High School as well as providing individualized care for many area patients.

The practice has six locations in Marquette, Escanaba, Ishpeming, L’Anse, Munising and Newberry.
