“The Superior Watershed Partnership is pleased to be working with the Michigan DNR to remove three obsolete dams in the Upper Peninsula,” said Geraldine Grant, who is a planner for the Superior Watershed Partnership.
“I think it's very important as we see the change in our agricultural industry, there’s just so many people now that are so far removed from agriculture and what it takes to raise an animal, and it's just wonderful to show folks what it does take and how much effort goes into it,” said Paul Naasz, president of the Alger County Fair Board.
"There are multiple groups that help people learn about the outdoors and enjoy things they've never done before in community with others, but people don't always know they exist or actively seek them out," says Shawnrece Butler, assistant vice president for Opportunity, Empowerment and People at Northern Michigan University.
“These lands are used for a variety of recreation activities and also support the state’s economy through tourism, the timber industry and job creation," said Scott Whitcomb, who is director of the DNR’s Office of Public Lands.
The St. Ignace Saints are part of a four-team expansion that will create a new division in the league and provide a unique “big sports” entertainment to the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
“The end result of this project will tie together and showcase the existing park amenities of the Hancock Beach and Campground with an expanse of outdoor space available for trail-based recreation and ecotourism, thus creating a sustainable recreation asset for both locals and visitors to enjoy," said Ian Helman, Hancock Trails Club board member.
“I am honored to join Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and lead an organization that is deeply dedicated to its patients and the community,” said Robert Mach, the hospital's new CEO. "I look forward to collaborating with the hospital’s talented staff, stakeholders and community to drive innovation, improve accessibility, and further enhance the exceptional care provided to our patients.”
“We are pleased to welcome Michigan Tech to our effort to build a high-quality data resource that is ‘of, by, and for’ higher education institutions,” said IRIS Executive Director Jason Owen-Smith, a professor of sociology at the University of Michigan.
“I’m thankful for the governor signing HB 4345 into law. Schools shouldn’t be penalized for keeping kids safe during an ice storm,” said state Rep. Cam Cavitt (R-Cheboygan), who sponsored the bill. “This is a smart, bipartisan win for students, teachers, and local communities.”
“I consider myself incredibly privileged to have this opportunity to work with a team of dedicated and experienced sergeants, troopers, motor carrier officers, and civilian staff members at the St. Ignace Post, and to once again be a part of (Michigan State Police's) Eighth District, which covers the entire Upper Peninsula,” said First Lieutenant Brock Artfitch.
