“The historic lighthouses lining our freshwater shoreline — the longest in the world — are part of the splendor of Pure Michigan,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said.
“We know that there is a shortage of nurses and there are also a lot of students who are pursuing a degree in nursing, a lot of them in the Western U.P.,” said Andrew Storer, MTU interim provost.
“Financial Literacy Month is celebrated each April, which makes this the perfect time for students to learn about the importance of saving for post-high school education and training,” said Kelly Heroux, president of Peshtigo National Bank.
“My initial primary goals are really focused on familiarizing myself with current operations and building relationships with the countless community stakeholders involved in the Chamber and U.P. State Fair,” said Matthew Valiquette, operations manager for the Delta County Chamber of Commerce.
“This is so important to us at the research center because we’re a new initiative and this helps us with financial constraints as we’re growing and allows us to invest in other positions,” said Ashley Meorke, director of the Richard and Theresa Barch Center for Freshwater Research and Education.
“This recognition can help to attract students and faculty members, as well as funding and collaboration with government agencies and industry partners," said Yu Cai, a Michigan Technological University professor and an expert in applied computing and computational science and engineering.
“I think we were all shocked here in the U.P. yesterday when Finlandia announced that they would be closing this summer. That’s a shock to everyone that’s been here. Finlandia has been around for 126 years, Northern (Michigan University) for 124 years, so they’ve been partners in higher education in the U.P for a long time,” said Derek Hall, chief marketing officer for Northern Michigan University.
“This is a classic win-win scenario as we seek to continue placing our students in rewarding careers and Irish Boat Shop offers our graduates outstanding opportunities for growth and development in their organization," says Nikki Storey, president of the Great Lakes Boat Building School.
“Through my ongoing work at Travel Marquette and this exciting position at (the Michigan Association of Convention and Visitor Bureau), I hope to continue to support travel to the great state of Michigan and do my part to promote our beloved region of in Marquette County," says Susan Estler, CEO of Travel Marquette.
“Our goal is to help visitors better understand best practices to keep them safe while protecting and preserving the Keweenaw’s wilderness,” explained Brad Barnett, executive director of Visit Keweenaw.
