What’s happening: Bay Mills Community College has announced plans to build a cutting-edge Allied Health Facility. The 36,000-square-foot project will be constructed on the college’s main campus in Bay Mills, replacing the old library building. The project represents a significant investment in the health and well-being of the community, college officials said.

About the building: The new facility will feature a state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab and an EMT lab, providing hands-on, real-world training for aspiring healthcare professionals. In addition, the building will include modern office spaces for academic staff, a relocated and expanded library, and a full-service cafeteria designed to support students and staff alike.

Health care needs: The inspiration for the new facility began with crucial conversations at the college about the urgent need for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) programs. With this new center, the college is poised to train the next generation of healthcare workers, ensuring that the region is better prepared to meet any challenge and care for its residents for years to come.

What they’re saying: “Bay Mills Indian Community is very proud of Bay Mills Community College’s Allied Health Facility. This structure is about investing in opportunity, empowerment, and the future of our students,” said Whitney Gravelle, president of the Bay Mills Indian Community and chair of its board of regents. “By creating more space for learning and services, we are building a place where every student can thrive, connect with their culture, and build the skills they need to succeed in life and in their communities.”

What’s next: Construction is scheduled to begin in May, with the facility projected to open its doors in Fall 2027. A formal groundbreaking ceremony will be announced at a later date.
