Biogenic Reagents has a new product development deal thanks to a recently agreement with West Fraser, the largest lumber producer in North America.

The agreement will find Biogenic Reagents, which has a facility at Sawyer in Marquette County that recently underwent a $31 million expansion, and West Fraser developing renewable biocarbon products through a new company called Biogenic Reagents Ventures LLC. That new company will operate existing facilities and potentially expand current operations.

“This collaboration is expected to provide a strong platform and path for the expansion of renewable biocarbon production capacity with abundant and diversified feedstock supply chain security,” says James Mennell, CEO of Biogenic Reagents.

The products being produced include activated carbon that is used globally to purify drinking water and to reduce emissions from power plants, and agricultural carbon soil amendments that increase crop yields, retain nutrients and reduce water requirements and runoff by capturing and holding nutrients and water in the root zone of plants.
