New CBS station coming to Marquette this spring

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
There’s a new news source (who knew?) in the Upper Peninsula now that WJMN-TV is opening up a local station in Marquette.

The television station, which is owned by Nexstar Broadcasting, is in the process of opening an operations center and high-definition news facility that will include a full staff.

The station will begin airing local news come next month, and at the helm as news director and anchor will be none other than longtime journalist Cynthia Thompson. Thompson was previously the news director for ABC 10. She was also previously a reporter and news anchor for WLUC-TV6.

The station’s news will focus on Upper Peninsula-based reporting and will run Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
