Connor Sports isn’t in the business of creating top-quality hardwood sports flooring because of the potential for awards, but it’s always nice when a company like that ends up getting one.

The Amasa-based company, which creates floors for gyms and other athletic arenas, recently earned the award for being the “Michigan Agriculture Exporter of the Year.” The honor was given to them by Governor Rick Snyder

“Connor Sports is honored to be awarded Ag Exporter of the Year by the State of Michigan,” says Jon Isaacs, the company’s general manager. “We’re very proud of our 100-plus-year-old roots in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and are excited to be recognized as a major contributor to the state’s export initiative.”

Connor Sports has customers in more than 40 countries across the globe. The exporting portion of their business now accounts for 26-percent of the overall business for the Upper peninsula company. The increase, according to the company, has allowed them to hire additional employees.
