ControlTec set to expand in Houghton
ControlTec, which is headquartered in Allen Park in the lower peninsula but has an office in the U.P., recently announced it will be expanding to a new location soon.
The move, which will take place Oct. 1, will find ControlTec moving from its current location into a larger office space in the MTEC SmartZone’s Powerhouse business incubator in Houghton. They are currently located in the SmartZone’s Lakeshore Center.
The larger location is required to help meet their growing market demand, which is focused on vehicle data acquisition and analysis software.
“When we opened our office in Houghton fall of 2012, we started with four part-time employees. However, we realized it’s difficult for us to manage them remotely. We decided the project work they were doing was of such high quality, it was wise to invest more up here,” says Bill Leisenring, ControlTec vice president and co-founder. “Last fall, we were dipping our toes in the water and now we’re jumping in.”
Currently there are two full-time and five part-time employees, but by late October that number should increase to a dozen.
