Residential and commercial builder Dickinson Homes announced it has been working recently on several projects for the Kennecott Eagle Mine in Marquette County.

It was awarded bids for the projects over the course of the year. One project the construction company has already finished is five “dry buildings,” which are locker and shower rooms for miners on site.

In February, Dickinson Homes finished and delivered a 960-square-foot security building to the mine, and is now building a 12,240-square-foot office building, which is scheduled to be finished this month.

Dickinson Homes crafts buildings at a Kingsford plant, where it employs about 75 people including office and craft workers. The company has been building and designing custom construction projects since 1969, and is a family-owned business in its third generation.

Several U.P. contractors also have been working on the projects with Dickinson Homes, through its network of 19 independent contractors offering various market services.
