Enstrom expands line-up with new helicopter

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
Menominee-based Enstrom Helicopter Corporation is rolling out a new addition to its helicopter line-up.

A training helicopter, the TH180 is a new design from Enstrom that focuses on low operating costs and ease of learning.

“The TH180 is designed with the student in mind. Its rugged frame with robust, energy-absorbing landing gear delivers wide margins of safety during the learning process,” says Bill Taylor, Enstrom’s director of engineering. He says the TH180 also is designed for high stability and controllability, with forgiving handling.

And on the flight instructor’s end, mechanical controls give direct feedback to the pilot, and basic systems provide a platform for a wide range of future training. The stripped-down trainer doesn’t mean comfort is sacrificed, though; head and leg room are ample, and Enstrom promises a quiet cabin environment along with memory foam seating.

The company debuted the new helicopter this month at an expo in Anaheim, California.
