EUP teachers take advantage of educational opportunities

Educators being educated is an idea that many parents like to think about. It’s important that those who teach today’s youth are always taking the time to learn themselves.

Over in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District, that idea is actually reality. All 550 classroom teachers in the ISD have the opportunity to take part in three days of professional development this year–a collaborative effort of all districts in the Eastern U.P.

“This is a great opportunity for our teachers to benefit from the absolute best in teaching and learning strategies,” says Dr. Dan Reattoir, EUPISD superintendent. “It’s another example of how coordination between and among our districts in the EUPISD is resulting in improved services and opportunities because we work together. The goal is to utilize these strategies to improve classroom instruction and ultimately improve student achievement.”

All districts in the Eastern Upper Peninsula have come together to work on improving classroom instruction. The presenters are from the Mid-Continent Research for Education and Learning in Denver, Colo.
