A new community store is open in Marquette, to help support financially-strained families.

The New Free Store is located at 1420 East M-28 in Marquette, and is working with the Lake Superior Community Partnership to host a grand opening this week.

The store provides free, quality necessities like clothes, linens, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items to families in the area who are feeling a financial burden.

The grand opening is on Oct. 20, when donations will also be accepted. Tours are planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., shoppers are welcome from 3 to 6 p.m., and children’s activities also are planned from 4 to 6 p.m. The store is run by a community-led board and can be found online here and on Facebook here.
