A Maine-based cybersecurity firm has set up shop in the U.P., working with Northern Michigan University and its Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute to develop cybersecurity, computer science and risk management capabilities for the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

A first-of-its-kind fellowship program in the state will provide Northern Michigan University students with hands-on experience in economic and community development in the Upper Peninsula, while also encouraging them to pursue careers in those fields and make the U.P. their home.
Many great examples of pre-K programs that have been well executed exist across the nation. Right here in Michigan, Detroit’s pre-K programs are among the best.
“Creating partnerships is important in this industry because these partnerships provide new avenues for our students who are training to join the marine workforce,” says Nikki Storey, president of the Great Lakes Boat Building School.
ARPA funding had brought a stabilization to early childhood care that needs to be maintained.
A collaborative partner with the Policy Equity Group and a member of Governor Whitmer’s PreK for All taskforce, Southern Imaginations has been brought in to help formulate recommendations for rolling out free, universal pre-k to all Michigan 4-year-olds.
“The NMDA Marine Electrical Systems Lab Pod will provide two marine electrical system mock-ups for instruction and hands-on skill development. We feel strongly that the more highly trained technicians we can help develop, the better it is for all segments of our industry," said Nancy Cueroni, executive director of the National Marine Distributors Association.
A common concern about PreK for All that came up during listening sessions was the role of home-based childcare and early education providers.
