Lehto’s Pasties expands to Traverse City

If you’re a fan of pasties, then you might be of the belief that the only good place to get one (besides Cornwall, England) is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

But what if the U.P. went to Traverse City and opened up shop? That’s what’s happening in the former Latte-Dah location on Front Street in the Northwest Michigan town.

The 720 W. Front Street location will no be home to the second location for Lehto’s Pasties. The first and iconic location in St. Ignace is owned by Bill Walker, who’s wife Laurie is the niece of John and Katherine Lehto.

Walker is the third owner of the business, which is a popular stopping place for visitors to the Upper Peninsula as well as native Yoopers.

The tradition will continue in Traverse City at the new location, which will offer the traditional meat-and-potatoes pasty as well as a vegetarian and chicken version.

The hours of the new location, which doesn’t have seating and offers only counter service, will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. from Monday through Saturday.
