Lake Superior State University announced it has hired a new director for its Escanaba Regional Center located at Bay College.

The center helps Escanaba students receive bachelor’s degrees through LSSU, and the new director, Heidi Baumgartner, would know that as well as anyone. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration through the center and has worked at the center as an administrative assistant.

She later worked as an office manager and purchasing agent for F.N. Sheppard, an Oshkosh, Wisconsin company, and more recently was office manager for Creative Composites, Inc. locally.

“I have personally experienced the benefits of the Escanaba Regional Center and feel passionate about helping others on their educational journeys,” says Baumgartner, a Rapid River native. “It is my pleasure to have come full circle and now have the opportunity to advise students in earning their bachelor’s degrees close to home.”

LSSU has offered degree programs including accounting, business administration, criminal justice, early childhood education, nursing, and individualized and liberal studies in Escanaba since 1989, and has done the same for business administration students at Bay College’s West Campus in Iron Mountain since 2008.
