What’s happening: Mount Bohemia Ski Resort is again in the national spotlight, competing in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Ski Resort in North America. The legendary Keweenaw backcountry ski destination secured the #2 spot in 2024 and is aiming for the top spot this year. Bohemia is the only Michigan resort on the ballot, going head-to-head with some of North America’s most famous destinations in Colorado, Utah, and British Columbia.

Background: For the eighth year in a row, Mount Bohemia has been nominated among the top 20 ski resorts on the continent. Since first appearing in the USA Today 10Best rankings, the Keweenaw’s extreme, all-natural ski area has earned an impressive streak of top-five finishes — landing #1 in 2023 .

About Mount Bohemia: Known for its untouched powder, expert-only terrain, and raw wilderness vibe, Mount Bohemia averages 273 inches of annual snowfall. Opened in 2000, the resort boasts 625 acres, 103 runs, and Michigan’s tallest vertical drop at 900 feet. Its longest run, Ghost Trail, stretches nearly two miles. This year, the resort has added a new mineral pool double the size and the same temperature as its current outdoor hot tub, and a new, larger steam room.
