“There’s an extreme shortage of professionals in the Upper Peninsula who can provide mental health care and addiction treatment or manage medication,” said Amy Poirier, PMHNP clinical coordinator at Northern Michigan University. “Upon completion of this program, graduates will be eligible to take the certification exam and provide all of these services.
“It's exciting to reach this phase of the project, to repaint the words with new designs” says Tiina Morin, Marquette's Arts & Culture manager. “The project is designed for the murals to have a lifespan of 3-4 years. By repainting them, we are able to provide local artists with more opportunities to contribute to our city’s public art collection.”
