Preparing for a long hiking trip inspired a pair of college friends from Michigan Technological University to create lighter, more suitable gear. And that led to the creation of their own gear company in Hancock.
“Mr. Patritto has a proven successful leadership style along with having teambuilding experience, and strong communication skills. He is a fiscally responsible budget manager after working with the Hurley Board of Education to eliminate all district debt. He’s also been successful in obtaining numerous grants to help fund various initiatives,” said Susan Beals, board chair.
A $3.4 million state grant will help create a small business hub in the central U.P. The Lake Superior Community Partnership aims to provide more coordinated support to the entire small business community, existing and new.
"This Great Lakes funding allows the city and SWP to install a series of green infrastructure projects that help protect Lake Superior water quality and water temperature while improving coastal habitat conditions,” said Carl Lindquist, the organization's executive director.
