Partridge Creek Farm seeks public help to buy truck

“Having a farm vehicle is not just a convenience for us; it's a necessity. It allows us to transport tools, equipment, and supplies between our six community garden sites located all around Ishpeming … This vehicle is vital for harvesting produce and distributing it to various community programs and initiatives,” said Danielle Sidor, Partridge Creek Farm Community Food Access Manager.

What’s happening: Partridge Creek Intergenerational Farm, more commonly known as Partridge Creek Farm, is looking to the community to help acquire a new farm truck for the 3.75-acre farm in downtown Ishpeming. According to farm leadership, the truck will provide crucial transportation in shipping roughly 9,000 pounds of produce grown at Partridge Creek to the Ishpeming School District cafeteria.

Connecting the land: Partridge Creek Farm has seven sites around downtown Ishpeming, which all require various tools and harvesting. However, it is more beneficial for the farm to be flexible in tool storage and food harvest instead of committing to multiple sets of equipment across each site.

What they’re saying: “Having a farm vehicle is not just a convenience for us; it’s a necessity. It allows us to transport tools, equipment, and supplies between our six community garden sites located all around Ishpeming, as well as our new Intergenerational farm site. This vehicle is vital for harvesting produce and distributing it to various community programs and initiatives,” said Danielle Sidor, PCF Community Food Access Manager.

What’s next: Partridge Creek Farm is looking at one of three ways to help with the assistance campaign: direct donations to help acquire and maintain the truck; a donation of a truck that could be used as farm equipment; or spreading the word to friends and others to encourage their donations.

Information is available at partridgecreekfarm.org or the farm’s social media platforms.
