It's almost hard to believe that Escanaba is 150 years old. First and foremost, the city looks darn good for its age. Secondly, there just seems to be a youthful energy buzzing around where you least expect to find it. But at 150 years old, the city has plenty of experience--including plenty of economic ups and downs--under its belt. But the future may be a bright one for this Upper Peninsula town. Let's be honest here: no one does spectacular like Mother Nature. Shawn Malone happened to be lucky enough to step outside and snag this gorgeous shot of Mother Nature showing off during a recent round of rain storms in Marquette.
It's tourist season here in the Upper Peninsula and that means there are a lot of folks trying to see a lot of the natural wonders the U.P. has to offer -- like these folks getting ready for a cruise to see Pictured Rocks.
Whether a community is dog-friendly or not can mean a lot to prospective residents looking for a nice neighborhood for their family, which often includes dogs. City ordinances, from leash laws to the creation of dog parks, are a factor that some Upper Peninsula administrators have on their minds.
