A new store is open in downtown Marquette, focused on supplying runners with everything they need

Queen City Running is owned by Marquette native Kevin Thomsen, and can be found at 119 West Baraga Avenue, near the Children’s Museum. Thomsen comes by his passion for the business honestly; a lifelong athlete, he also learned a lot from working at his family’s business, longtime Marquette staple Johnson’s Sport Shop.

The store opened this spring and specializes in high-end footwear that will stand up to all kinds of running, including marathon and ultramarathon. They offer a specialized fitting process most retailers don’t, and plenty of non-running shoe options too, suitable for jogging, walking or other recreation. Also found there are accessories, insoles, activewear and other items.

Queen City Running is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 3 p.m.
