Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital has successfully moved into its new building on U.S. 2 in Manistique.

The move has been underway for some time, with ground-breaking on the new 62,000-square-foot hospital started in 2011. Manistique residents got to tour the new facility earlier this year, and as of this week, patients were moved over to the new hospital, and the old one is closing down.

At 7870 West U.S. 2, the new Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and Rural Health Clinic has two operating rooms, an emergency room, and new radiology equipment. Patient access and private rooms have been improved as well.

The hospital’s 240 employees now will all work at the new location as well, as the old hospital will be demolished this summer.
