St. Francis Hospital’s Besse Physical Rehabilitation Center open

OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba recently invited the public to take a tour of their new John & Melissa Besse Physical Rehabilitation Center, and there was definitely plenty to be impressed by.

The center, which broke ground late last year, is 13,300 square feet that totaled $4.45 million to construct. Out of that total, $2.5 million came from the John & Melissa Besse Foundation.

According to statistics from St. Francis, the hospital has just over 56,000 rehab patient visits each year, so the construction of the new center will help provide more space for services previously provided within the hospital itself, as well as room for new services, such as outpatient speech therapy and a warm-water pool therapy area with an underwater treadmill and resistance jets. The center also features a short track and a central gym as well as 12 private treatment bays and a designated pediatric therapy area.
