Superior Health Foundation opens new office in Marquette

There have been a lot of changes in the Marquette healthcare community lately, with Marquette General Health System being bought by Duke LifePoint.

One of those changes is the new incarnation of the hospital’s charitable foundation, which now is called Superior Health Foundation.

The foundation has opened the doors on a new office in downtown Marquette, at 121 North Front Street, right next to the WMQT radio station.

“We have a new name, a revised mission and a new home. What hasn’t changed is our undeniable commitment to provide charitable funding to meet the ongoing health needs of the underserved,” says Jim LaJoie, executive director of Superior Health Foundation.

That mission includes meeting healthcare needs for the uninsured or under-insured, supporting educational programs on healthcare, and supporting programs and research to prevent and reduce illness and disease.

The foundation is governed by a board of directors, which may expand to include others as part of the changes at MGH.
