Green Timber, Grossman Forestry merge

“We are excited to join forces with the staff at Grossman Forestry. The combination of our two teams will bring clients expanded expertise and opportunities through a broader network of land management services while offering efficiencies with offices spread across the Upper Peninsula,” says Justin Miller, president of Green Timber.

What’s happening: Two Upper Peninsula forestry companies announced a merger on Monday, Aug. 12. Pelkie-based Green Timber Consulting Foresters Inc. and Grossman Forestry Company in Newberry announced that the two companies will combine to manage over 550,000 acres of forest land in Michigan and Wisconsin.
The merger will happen through sale, with Green Timber purchasing Grossman Forestry with an anticipated closing date of January 1, 2025.

Protecting local forests: With more than 50 years experience, the combination of Grossman and Green Timber will unite two different areas of the region and help address some of the unique issues facing timber management on both sides of the Upper Peninsula. The amount of protected forest land in both Baraga and Luce counties — the two counties the companies are currently based out of — has greatly increased over the last 15 years. With additional stress on protecting forests and using new techniques and technology, Green Timber is looking forward to monitoring the local ecosystems in the U.P. and beyond.

What they’re saying: “We are excited to join forces with the staff at Grossman Forestry. The combination of our two teams will bring clients expanded expertise and opportunities through a broader network of land management services while offering efficiencies with offices spread across the Upper Peninsula,” says Miller.

What’s next: No major changes should be expected for customers, as all 17 foresters and other employees are expected to maintain their current accounts. Green Timber said that they will be able to expand current capacity with the combined resources moving forward.
