What’s happening: Jesse Wiederhold, formerly public relations/events coordinator at Visit Keweenaw, has been promoted to managing director. Prior to joining Visit Keweenaw in 2023, Wiederhold served as Houghton/Hancock Bureau Reporter for WLUC TV6. The Caro native graduated from Northern MIchigan University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in English.

About the managing director: Wiederhold’s promotion to managing director is a vital step in a new structure, ensuring dedicated local leadership focused on the successful operation of the Houghton Visitor Center and maintaining strong, direct engagement with our valued local stakeholders and members.

What they’re saying: “Jesse has been an integral part of our team for nearly three years, and in this new, elevated role, he will take on significant new responsibilities. Specifically, Jesse will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our exciting new visitor center in Houghton while playing a key role in local membership engagement and outreach,” said Brad Barnett, executive director of Visit Keweenaw. Barnett will continue to serve in his current role and lead Visit Keweenaw.

About Visit Keweenaw: Visit Keweenaw is a tourism organization promoting Keweenaw and Houghton counties on the Keweenaw Peninsula.
