Yooper Steez expands and now has U.P.-inspired skateboard

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If you thought the only thing you could buy that represented to good ol’ Upper Peninsula was some t-shirts or hoodies, think again. How about your very own U.P.-inspired skateboard?

Yeah, you heard us right–a skateboard, designed and offered to the Yooper in all of us by none other than Yooper Steez, the company that made celebrating everything Upper Peninsula fashionable.

The board, known as the Lumberjack Jack, represents the Upper Peninsula’s working man. Rugged. Plaid. One heck of a beard.

“Lumberjack Jack loves the U.P., respects the land,” said Justin Sailor, owner of Yooper Steez. “Perhaps most importantly, I see Lumberjack Jack as an ode to my father, who is a forester and has worked the land in the Upper Peninsula for his career. When I look at the design, that’s what I’m reminded of.”

Sailor is the first to admit that he never planned on getting into the skateboard industry. He grew up as a skateboarder and always had a dream of being sponsored, but like many youthful dreams it just never happened. So when the chance to print a custom board came his way, he jumped at it.

“Yooper Steez isn’t a skateboard company and shouldn’t be seen as one,” Sailor insists. “We just happen to sell some skateboards, among other products. Yooper Steez thrives on finding unique products where we can find an opportunity, a design and offer a quality, original and fresh product for people who love the Upper Peninsula.”

The best way to get your own Lumberjack Jack? Simply check out the Yooper Steez website.

Sailor says that he’s interested in seeing photos of those who get any of the Yooper Steez products and want to show them off.

“We want people to submit photos doing some big tricks (on their new skateboards),” he says. “And for all those people who already have a Yooper Steez t-shirt or hoodie, we want your photos, too. People can easily upload photos to the site.”
