What’s happening: Able Medical Devices has opened a new 30,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Marquette. The new facility will enhance operational efficiency, support future growth and provide an improved working environment. Located in close proximity to the region’s abundant outdoor recreational opportunities, the Marquette facility supports a healthy work-life balance and makes it easier for current and future employees, many of whom live in nearby communities, to access the workplace. The Lake Superior Community Partnership participated in a ribbon cutting this month.

About Able Medical Devices: Able Medical Devices, part of the JM Longyear family, designs and manufactures high-quality surgical implants and instruments, offering a full range of services from early design and development to final production of ready-to-use products that improve patient care. The company has long been a part of the Sawyer International Airport community in Gwinn, MI, and while that location will continue to support operations, the Marquette facility positions Able for the next stage of growth.

What they’re saying: “The new facility represents a meaningful investment in both the future of Able Medical Devices and the Marquette community,” said Steve Hicks, CEO of JM Longyear. “We’re proud to support a company that is not only advancing medical innovation but also creating high-quality jobs and opportunities right here in the Upper Peninsula.”

What’s next: Able Medical Devices is committed to continued growth and innovation while contributing to the economic development of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
