Bahama Flats opens new Islands coffee and bakery business

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Bahama Flats in Sault Ste. Marie already offers fresh, homemade sandwiches, soups, salads, subs and pizza, but now they’re expanding with a new store, The Islands, and new hours as well.

The Islands, inside Bahama Flats at 2237 Ashmun Street, will serve up doughnuts, bagels and fresh-roasted coffee from Superior Coffee Roasting Co. right in Sault Ste. Marie. Bahama Flats celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce last week.

Bahama Flats and The Islands are owned by Chad and Janet Cardinal, who included son Travis in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The restaurant just opened up in 2012 and is now open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
