Una de las barreras de la comunidad de discapacitados para acceder a las vacunas COVID ha sido el transporte. En respuesta, Disability Rights Michigan ha presentado una guía interactiva para ayudar a los usuarios a desenvolverse en el complejo sistema de transporte del estado.
“There’s an extreme shortage of professionals in the Upper Peninsula who can provide mental health care and addiction treatment or manage medication,” said Amy Poirier, PMHNP clinical coordinator at Northern Michigan University. “Upon completion of this program, graduates will be eligible to take the certification exam and provide all of these services.
“It's exciting to reach this phase of the project, to repaint the words with new designs” says Tiina Morin, Marquette's Arts & Culture manager. “The project is designed for the murals to have a lifespan of 3-4 years. By repainting them, we are able to provide local artists with more opportunities to contribute to our city’s public art collection.”
The Michigan Center for Rural Health holds its annual conference next week in Mount Pleasant. The two-day conference brings those working in rural health together to discuss a variety of issues in rural health, network and collaborate.

“Having a farm vehicle is not just a convenience for us; it's a necessity. It allows us to transport tools, equipment, and supplies between our six community garden sites located all around Ishpeming ... This vehicle is vital for harvesting produce and distributing it to various community programs and initiatives,” said Danielle Sidor, Partridge Creek Farm Community Food Access Manager.
The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services has collaborated with Disability Rights of Michigan to support vaccinations for homebound residents.
