What’s happening: Six U.P. students have been awarded scholarships by LP Building Solutions, a leading manufacturer of high-performance building products with a mill in Newberry. LP awarded a record 104 scholarships to team members’ children for the 2026–2027 academic year, marking the 25th anniversary of the LP Scholarship Program. The six local recipients will receive up to $10,000 over four years to support full-time studies at an accredited college, university, or vocational school:
Joey Mainville, attending Gogebic Community College
Brittany Richardson, attending University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Kacie Hopper, attending North Central Michigan College
Ava Roberts, attending Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design
Emma Roberts, attending University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
Evelyn Langin, attending Advanced Welding Institute of Wisconsin
About the 2026 class and program: The class includes 46 new and 58 renewing scholars from across the company’s team members pursuing undergraduate, vocational, or technical degrees across North America. Each scholarship provides up to $10,000 over four years for full-time studies. Since 2001, LP has awarded nearly 2,000 scholarships totaling over $3 million. Administered by Scholarship America, this year’s class represents LP’s largest annual investment—over $250,000—evaluating applicants on academics, leadership, community involvement, work experience, and financial need.
What they’re saying: “Investing in people has always been one of LP’s greatest strengths, extending beyond our team members to their families,” said LP CEO Jason Ringblom. “For 25 years, this program has helped open doors for the next generation. Their achievements reflect the commitment to learning and excellence that shapes our company.”
