Switchback Gear Exchange adds employees

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Since it first opened last year, Switchback Gear Exchange and Outfitters in Marquette has seen constant growth.

Why? Well, it could be the great selection of new and used items they carry for just about any outdoor adventure. Or it could be the staff.

Mike and Rachel Posthumus are the owners of the shop and it didn’t take long before they hired n Lindsay Bean to do day-to-day operation for the steadily growing company. Doug Campbell will also be filling in that role.

“Doug Campbell will be co-running the store with me,” Bean says. “Doug is moving back from Montana to take this position. Because we’re small and we deal with a large range of equipment, our knowledge base has to be solid.”

Bean specializes in canoeing, winter camping, backpacking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and electronics and gadgets while Campbell[‘s expertise is rock climbing, mountain biking, downhill skiing, canoeing, backpacking and electronics and gadgets.

Nick Simon is Switchback’s fly-fishing expert and guide and teaches fly tying classes and Greg Thocker’s focus is snowboarding, backpacking and fly fishing.

In short, if you’re interested in going out and doing it, the folks at Switchback can either teach you, explain it to you or introduce you to someone who can.

No wonder they’re growing so fast!
