Travel publications name Keweenaw Peninsula as top fall getaway

Celebrated local landmarks like Hungarian Falls and Copper Harbor are helping drive national and regional media attention.

What’s happening: The Keweenaw Peninsula is earning national recognition for its spectacular autumn scenery. Midwest Living has named the Keweenaw Michigan’s best fall getaway in its feature, “We Picked the Best Fall Getaway in Every Midwest State—Is Your Favorite Here?”

More accolades: The recognition follows another major autumn travel accolade from Travel + Leisure, which recently highlighted the Keweenaw among the Midwest’s premier fall destinations. In its feature, Midwest Living praised the peninsula’s abundant waterfalls, historic communities, and scenic drives, highlighting Hungarian Falls, Brockway Mountain Drive, M-26, and Copper Harbor as standout experiences.

What they’re saying: “It’s wonderful to see the Keweenaw recognized not just once, but twice by respected travel publications like Midwest Living and Travel + Leisure,” said Brad Barnett, executive director of Visit Keweenaw. “These recognitions reflect both the incredible destination we’re fortunate to represent and the storytelling we do to share it with the world. Our landscapes, communities and experiences give us extraordinary stories to tell, and it’s rewarding to see those stories resonate with national audiences.”
