The Imagination Factory Children's Museum in Iron Mountain has exceeded a $50,000 fundraising goal through the crowdfunding website Patronicity, qualifying for matching monies from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
"Our winter maintenance period is a critical time for us to execute strategic asset renewal investments in our aging locks,” said LeighAnn Ryckeghem, operations manager for the Soo Locks. “This year, a number of factors worked in our favor that allowed us to safely deliver this critical maintenance and also open to navigation traffic a few days early.”
“It’s a win for Western UP students and their teachers to gain real-world education applications and hands-on workforce training at an early, impressionable age,” said Spencer Lucker, who is director of Strategic Talent Initiatives for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
