New ice cream store opens in Alger County

A new ice cream store, Mama Cow's, is open in Chatham.

There’s a new ice cream place in Alger County to enjoy in these last hot days of summer.

Mama Cow’s Ice Cream Shop opened up in early August in Chatham, right on M-94 in downtown Chatham.

The small shop was under construction most of the summer, and finally opened up its doors to the delight of local residents in time for the hottest part of the summer. Among its offerings are hand-scooped premium ice cream from Madison, Wisconsin-based The Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company, soft-serve, slushies and blended ice cream treats.

It’s open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 9 p.m. Sundays.
