New bar and grill Jackson’s Pit coming to Negaunee

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Coming soon to Negaunee is going to be a nice selection of brews and some gourmet-inspired pub food that will no doubt satisfy your taste buds.

Jackson’s Pit, which is expected to open in June, is located at 305 Iron Street in Negaunee and is operated by Mike and Ivy Ridenour. It is named after the Jackson Mine — the first open-pit iron mine in Negaunee, established in 1845, that is credited for the mining boom in the region.

Being served at Jackson’s Pit will be upscale bar food.

“Being a bar and grill, we want to keep it simple yet still completely awesome,” the owners stated on the company Facebook page. “Signature burgers, chicken breast, wraps, salads, unique melts, and naturally a large variety of appetizers, many house made.”

Jackson’s Pit will offer a family atmosphere and an ambience based on the area’s mining heritage.
