St. Ignace Job Fair connects employers and employees on April 3

Summer job seekers would do well to take a trip to St. Ignace April 3 for the upcoming St. Ignace Job Fair.

“Many people are unemployed and the job fair gives them direct access to dozens of employers who are actively seeking employees. You might begin by filling out an application, or you just might walk out with a job,” says Janet Peterson, executive director of the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce.

The job fair, hosted by the chamber, has a successful history of matching up employers with applicants, and this year they’re bumping up the value even higher for attendees, with the first hour of the day dedicated to a free job training event, “Service with a Smile.” The free customer service training session, conducted by MSU Extension, ends with a certificate of completion for participants to include in their resumes or portfolios both at the job fair and afterward.

Between 20 and 30 employers are expected to attend, including some educational institutions.

The job fair is held at Little Bear East Arena at 275 Marquette Street from 1 to 4 p.m., with free daycare during the event for applicants with young children, provided by the Great Start Collaborative.
