What’s happening: Menco LLC, a CNC machining and custom fabrication business that began operations in 2021, recently relocated from Wisconsin to Mellen Township in Menominee County, with help from a grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund and other assistance from Michigan Works! and InvestUP.

What’s the impact: With the relocation to the U.P. , the company will consolidate operations and expand its capabilities with additional machinery and equipment. The move also strengthens Menco’s ability to serve existing and new customers in the region. The company’s relocation will generate at least $1.2 million and create 13 good-paying jobs in the area, according to a new release from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.  “Thanks to Team Michigan, as they were easy to work with and made the decision to move to Michigan easier,” said Adam Menor, who is general manager of Menco.

Funding and assistance: The Michigan Strategic Fund provided support for the move with a Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant in the amount of $100,000. In addition, Michigan Works! will aid in talent recruitment and workforce development, a value of $188,754. InvestUP, a regional economic development organization, will provide support with staff time and resources.

What they’re saying: “We are grateful to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for awarding Menco LLC a $100,000 Business Development Program grant. This investment accelerates the expansion from Wisconsin into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and strengthens the company’s commitment to creating long term economic opportunity in Menominee County,” said Marty Fittante, who is CEO of InvestUP.
