Amidst the wreckage, recovery has begun, spearheaded by nearly 50 Red Cross disaster specialists and a massive grassroots initiative to restore power and provide refuge.
It's not just about books at libraries. Libraries in the U.P. and across rural Michigan have expanded their services to meet the needs of their communities. Those services range from costume and tool rentals to household repairs to Notary needs.
Marquette has big plans for the future of culture in the city. A vacant building will be transformed into the city's cultural center, drawing more residents and visitors alike downtown. The site also will include a trailhead, connecting the local, state and national trails in the region.
